Duration: 2019 – 2023, extension anticipated for 2024
Current Information: The conclusion of a new DEAL contract with Wiley starting from 2024 is imminent (see press release from the DEAL Consortium dated 19 October 2023). Subject to the actual finalization of the contract, TUM aims to participate in the opt-in agreement.
TUM is participating in the current nationwide DEAL contract with the academic publisher Wiley. The agreement offers TUM scientists online access to all Wiley journals as well as extended opportunities to publish their research results under the Open Access model. This applies to articles accepted during the contract period.
The agreement covers the following key points:
- Full Reading Access
TUM members have online access to Wiley's complete journal portfolio, which currently includes around 1,700 journals and full texts of back volumes from 1997 onwards.
- Hybrid Open Access
As a "Responsible Corresponding Author (RCA)" from TUM, you are entitled to publish your articles Open Access in Wiley subscription journals. There are no personal costs for you – unless you agree with the publisher on certain additional services, for which Wiley will directly invoice you.
- Gold Open Access
As a "Responsible Corresponding Author (RCA)" from TUM, you can also publish in purely Open Access journals from Wiley at no personal costs. In these cases, invoices for publication costs are handled centrally by the TUM University Library.
Indicate your affiliation with TUM
To ensure all publications are unequivocally attributed to the Technical University of Munich, it is crucial for all TUM authors to use the binding, standardized affiliation designation. Please adhere to the specifications outlined in the TUM Publication Guidelines for all your publication projects.
