The funding of your article will be decided in consultation with the schools and departments. For this reason, there may be regulations for selected schools and departments that differ from the general conditions. In principle, costs can only be covered if there are still resources available in the Publishing Fund.
General eligibility conditions
- The corresponding author must be a TUM member and specify his/her affiliation according to the TUM Publication Guidelines.
- Your article will be published in an open access journal, which provides free access to all articles without any subscription fee immediately after publication and ensures the quality of articles through a peer review process. A list of eligible journals can be found at the Directory of Open Access Journals.
So-called "Mirror Journals" are not eligible. "Mirror Journals" carry a similar title and have the same editorial board as the subscription journal. They are merely a different type of hybrid journal, even though they are listed in DOAJ.
- The article-processing charge (APC) does not exceed 2,000 EUR net per article. Partial reimbursement is not possible. Please note, that cost details on the websites of publishers or journals usually are specified without value-added tax.
- However, APCs for articles in open access journals from Wiley, Springer Nature and some other publishers are an exception to this rule. Costs are covered by central funds on the basis of contractual agreements, irrespective of the amount of the article-processing charge if the corresponding author belongs to TUM.
- The author has no access to other funding to finance an open access publication.
- The article should be published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). The University Library's handout on the publication of research data and software programs provides you an overview.
