Access to Library Account

The Online Catalogue [1] allows you to check the status of your library account regarding:

  • requested and reserved items
  • borrowed items
  • current due dates
  • fines owing

What to do...

  1. Start the Online Catalogue. [1]
  2. Login with user number and password.
  3. Select the tab "My Account".

Login & Password

Logging into the OPAC and the library account differs depending on your user group:

Active TUM Members

Students, staff, and guests with a TUMonline account use the following for login:

TUM ID + Password

If you have forgotten your password, please go to TUMonline [2] and use the "Reset Password" function there.

External Users and TUM Alumni

Private individuals, members from other universities, and TUM alumni, use the following for login:

Library Number + Password

You can find your library number on the back of the library card. If you have forgotten your password, please use the "Forgot Password" function in the OPAC [3].

A New Password is Required for External Users an TUM Alumi!
With the migration to the new library system in January 2025, existing passwords (used with library numbers) are no longer valid. When logging into the OPAC for the first time after the migration, you must create a new password. Please use the "Forgot Password" function for this purpose.

For any questions or issues, please contact our First Level Hotline [4].

Library Notices & Alerts

You will automatically receive courtesy email reminders if you have disclosed your email address on registration.

We will send automatically generated emails in the following cases:

  • The items requested from a different branch library are ready for check-out.
  • The items requested via inter-library loan are ready for collection.
  • The loan period of your borrowed items is due to expire.
  • Another library user has placed a hold on an item you have borrowed.
  • The reserved items are ready for check-out.

Please bear in mind that the University Library does not accept responsibility for the non-receipt of emails. Therefore, we strongly recommend you frequently check your library account in the Online Catalogue [1] for current due dates.

For media reclaims [5], notices in writing will be sent out via post.

Change of Address

TUM Students

Please update your address in the campus system TUMonline [2].

TUM Staff Members

Please inform the Human Resources Department of TUM (ZA2) of your address change. The updated data will then be forwarded to us automatically.

TUM Service Compass: Information on updating personal data [6] (German only)

External Users and TUM Alumni

Please have your address updated in person at one of our branch libraries. Bring a valid ID or passport in combination with a current proof of residence in Germany ("Meldebescheinigung").
