Pickup & Checkout

Selecting the Pickup Location

At the end of the ordering process in the OPAC [2], you select your preferred pickup location. The dropdown menu "Pickup Location" displays all available options for the respective item.

No orders within the same branch library
Ordering is only possible for items from other branch libraries or closed stacks. If an item is loacated in open stacks at your preferred branch library, you can take it directly from the shelf and check it out on-site.

Changing the Pickup Location

It is not possible to change the pickup location after ordering. Once you have placed a request in the OPAC, our library system initiates the delivery process. However, you can cancel and re-order.

Canceling orders
If you accidentally order an item to the wrong branch library, you can cancel the request in your library account [4] and then order the literature again. If the item is already in transit, this may delay its delivery time.

Delivery Time and Pickup Deadlines

Ordered items are typically available for pickup within 1–3 business days. Orders from or to the Branch Library Straubing require 5 days due to the distance. Once your order is ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification [3]. You then have 10 days to collect your order.

Postponing pickup deadlines
The 10-day pickup deadline cannot be extended. Items not collected within this timeframe will be checked back in and made available for new orders in the OPAC.

Borrowing On-Site

In our branch libraries and textbook collections, you will find literature freely accessible in the open stacks. You can borrow these books on-site: simply take them directly from the shelf and have them checked out at the circulation desk. Alternatively, you can order the materials to another branch library for pickup via OPAC [5].

Reference Collection – not for loan
Journals in the open stacks and books with yellow labels belong to the reference collection and cannot be borrowed.
