Download & Installation

  1. Download & Installation
    First download the free version of Citavi [1] and install it on your computer.
  2. Citavi Account
    To be able to use the full version and work with cloud projects, please register for a Citavi Account [2] with your TUM e-mail address. Authentication with a freemailer address (e.g. web.de, GMX, Gmail) is not possible.
  3. License Key
    Open Citavi and click on the login icon in the start window. Enter your access data for your Citavi account. The license information is now automatically recognized.
 

Terms of Use & Licence Information

The TUM university library offers students, faculty and staff the usage of the full version of Citavi for Windows (desktop version) and Citavi web as part of a campus licence.

Terms of Use

  • The Citavi licence is limited to a single user. You may install the software on a computer or a network drive.
  • At the end of your studies or your employment at the TUM, you may not use the full version via the TUM campus licence any longer.

By using Citavi, you agree to the Privacy Police [3] and Terms of Use [4].

Licence extension for TUM members until 30.09.2026

TUM extended the Citavi licence for for all TUM students and employees. You can transfer the new license data by logging in to your Citavi account. In section Citavi Desktop & Web Bundle click on "Citavi 6 – valid until 2024". To confirm that you are enrolled or working at TUM, request an e-mail to your TUM e-mail address and confirm the link contained. After that you can use Citavi until further notice (or until you leave TUM).
TUM has an up-to-date licence for the web version of Citavi, which allows you to work from anywhere on any operating system.

Funktionen

Citavi is a reference management programme for Microsoft Windows, which supports your entire research process - from searching for sources to citing and finishing your paper.

Additional to classical references management tools Citavi offers functions for knowledge organisation and task planning. An online search feature allows you to search databases and catalogues from within the programme.

With the new web version of Citavi, you are able to create and manage projects regardless of the operating system – Mac OS, Windows or Linux. All you need is an internet connection and a Citavi account.

Find full text search for licensed material

Via the function "Find full text" you can search for sources TUM library has subscribed to. Choose Tools menue and follow the link Options. Choose the tab "RSS / OpenURL" and following URLs:

When using "Find full text" search, after having added the above mentioned link, you will be asked if you wish to "Log in to https://eacces.tum.edu/login [10]". To search for licensed full texts, log in with your TUM ID (TUM e-mail adress + password) and click LogIn. You can then close the login window.
Please remember that there is no guarantee you will be able to find all the scientific articles licensed by TUM. In addition, the search would take considerably longer.
