Study Carrels at the Branch Library Sport & Health Sciences

Enjoying a quiet study environment – this is what a library carrel, offers you. The individual study rooms are designated to comprehensive literature research, intensive learning or academic writing.

Online Reservation

Reservation of study carrels will presumably be available again from mid-July. In the meantime, the carrels are available for free use.

TUM students and staff members can easily book study carrels online:

  • Log in to the reservation system with your TUM ID
  • Select a time slot and submit your booking
  • Receive your booking confirmation via email

Reserve a Study Carrel [1] (expected to be activated from mid-July 2025)

You will receive a reminder about your booking one day before the start of your reservation.

 

Check-in

Please check in on-site for every online reservation:

  • Scan the QR code from your booking confirmation at the check-in station.
  • A separate check-in is required for each time slot, even if bookings are back-to-back.
  • Check in within 30 minutes of the reservation start time (for study carrels: within 48 hours).
  • Without check-in, your reservation will be automatically cancelled.
 

Terms & Conditions

Who can reserve webinar carrels?

  • TUM students and TUM employees
  • Reservations are non-transferable and must not be made for others

How to reserve

  • online via the reservation system (expected to be activated from mid-July 2025)
  • Login with your TUM ID
  • Book up to 3 months in advance – same-day bookings are possible

Reservation limits

  • Minimum booking period: 1 week, always starting on Monday
  • Up to 8 weeks per year; your booking contingent is renewed on 01.01. of each year at midnight

When does my reservation expire?

  • After 48 hours, if you don’t show up or fail to check in
  • Expired reservations are not refunded to your booking contingent

Things to keep in mind

  • Doors of study carrels are not lockable
  • Other people are allowed to use the carrel when you are absent
  • For short absences we recommend the use of our clock discs
  • Drinks in tightly closed containers are okay
  • No food or alcohol allowed
