Welcome to the TUM University Library! Whether books, e-media, study spaces, or support on academic key skills – we are here for you throughout all stages of your studies. TUM students can book our courses, consultation services, and study desks free of charge. You also have free access to our media and campus licenses.

Discover our nine branch libraries [1] with their textbook collections at the TUM campuses in Munich, Garching, Freising and Straubing.
If you are enrolled at TUM, you are automatically registered to use the library. Library Tours – First Orientation
New on campus? Kick off your studies with a good overview: in just 30 minutes, our Library Tours [4] walk you through key services, study spaces, and resources – making sure you can navigate your everyday student life with ease.
Your schedule is packed? No time during the day? Then our Evening Tours [5] are for you: the one-hour guided tours give you a deep dive into the library and its services with plenty of time to ask individual questions. We offer evening tours all semester long.LIT Days | 8–9 October 2025
Study Spaces
Learning at the UniBib! We offer a variety of study spaces to suit your needs. Group Rooms, Carrels, the Presentation Lab and one third of the available Study Desks can be reserved online by TUM students. All other spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to Bib – Rules for Working Together
Our branch libraries are popular learning spaces. Please follow our Rules for Respectful Interaction [12], especially during exam periods, when the library is busy and study spaces are in high demand.
Media Resources
The University Library holds 2.3 million items:
- 2,700 databases [13]
- 150,000 e-journals [14]

Online Catalog OPAC
Our OPAC [2] offers all resources in one place – TUM holdings plus millions of items from other libraries. You can directly order, borrow or read online. Titles not available at TUM can be requested via Interlibrary Loan [17].
E-Media Access – Beyond the Paywall
Most e-media is access-protected. With your TUM ID, you can log in via eAccess [18] or Shibboleth [19] and enjoy 24/7 free access – whether on campus, at home or on the go.
Reference Management
For seminar papers and your thesis, we recommend using reference management tools. They help you collect and organize sources efficiently, cite references in Word and create reference lists.
Thanks to our campus licenses, TUM students can use Citavi and EndNote free of charge. Zotero is available as open-source software. We also offer courses [23] and consultation sessions [24] for all three programs.
