Webinar Carrels

Conducting an online job interview between lectures or taking part in a webinar that requires you to speak? Our webinar carrels in the Mathematics & Informatics Branch Library make it possible. These sound‑insulated, reservable booths provide the ideal environment for anyone who needs a quiet, private space or prefers working in the library.

Online Reservation

TUM students can easily reserve webinar carrels online:

  1. Log in to the reservation system with your TUM ID
  2. Select a time slot and submit your booking
  3. Receive your booking confirmation via email

Availability

The University Library offers twelve webinar carrels in the Branch Library Mathematics & Informatics. Speaking is explicitly allowed in the webinar carrels. Please use the rooms for:

  • Actively participating in webinars
  • Online lectures
  • Presentations via video conference
  • Job or internship interviews

Check-in

For every online reservation, please check in at the branch library:

  • Scan the QR code from the confirmation email at the check-in station.
  • Check in separately for each time slot, even for consecutive bookings.
  • Check-in is possible 30 minutes prior to the reservation time.
  • Check-in must be completed within 30 minutes.

Without check-in your reservation will be automatically canceled.

Terms & Conditions

Booking Quota & Usage Period

  • Booking quota: 2 reservations per week and branch library
  • Maximum booking duration: 4 hours per reservation

Who Can Reserve a Webinar Carrel?

  • Only TUM students
  • Reservations are non-transferable and may not be made on behalf of others.

How Can I Reserve?

  • Online via the reservation system
  • Log in with your TUM ID
  • Book up to 7 days in advance – same-day bookings are also possible

When Does My Reservation Expire?

  • After 30 minutes, if you do not show up or fail to check in.
  • If you are absent for more than 60 minutes or do not use a break-time disc.
  • Expired reservations are not credited back to your booking quota.

What Should I Observe When Using a Webinar Carrel?

  • Mark absences with the library's break-time discs.
  • Drinks are allowed in tightly sealed containers.
  • No food or alcohol allowed.
  • The University Library's House Rules apply.

Break-Time Disc Policy

Want to take a break and leave your webinar carrel temporarily? That's fine, as long as:

  • Your break does not exceed 60 minutes.
  • You place a break-time disc in your carrel to indicate the start time of your break.

Break-time discs are available in collection bins at all branch libraries. When leaving the library, please return them at the exit.

Important:

  • If you exceed the maximum break time of 60 minutes, others may move your belongings and use your spot.
  • Empty webinar carrels without a break-time disc may be reassigned.
  • The University Library assumes no liability for unattended personal items.

Equipment

  • Soundproofing for focused and non-disturbing use
  • Power outlets and internet connection
  • Two desks and swivel chairs – suitable for up to two people
