Library services could be affected
Power Shutdown on the Weekend
Due to the refurbishment works on the TUM Main Campus, the power will be shut down in building parts neighboring the Branch Library Main Campus on the upcoming weekend May 21 and 22, 2011.
It could be possible that library services might be affected temporarily. This would apply to loan services, the internet, library computers or electric lighting - especially outside the reading room.
Nevertheless, the Branch Library will be open regularly.
Why is the textbook collection moving within the Garching campus?
Starting September 15, the Garching textbook collection will be moved from the Branch Library Mechanical Engineering to the newly refurbished and equipped Branch Library Chemistry. The relocation became necessary due to the constantly growing amount of textbooks and the increasing lack of space. Only the Branch Library Chemistry provides enough room to purchase new textbooks in the upcoming years. At the same time the relocation offers the opportunity to create more than 60 new study tables on the gallery. Journal volumes and books which are located there at the moment will be moved one floor down.
Admittedly, the reloction of the textbook collection could also be seen as a disadvantage. It will loose its central location and will be situated at the more remote Branch Library Chemistry. However, it will take you only a few more minutes to go there. Furthermore, you could request books from one branch library and have them sent to the branch library you choose. You are not obliged to pick up books from different branch libraries by yourself. Our inter-branch loan service is free of charge.
