Opening hours on Public Holiday, 15.08.2022

Monday, 15 August 2022 is a holiday in large parts of Bavaria – Assumption Day. Nevertheless, our Branch Libraries Main Campus, Mathematics & Informatics and Life Sciences will be open for you:

Main Campus 9 a.m – 10 p.m.
Mathematics & Informatics 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Life Sciences 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

All other branch libraries are closed on public holidays.
Our first level hotline is also not available.

Binding Affiliation Designation

The binding TUM Publication Guidelines are now available in a new extended version. Newly included are regulations on how authors indicate their affiliation when belonging to two higher-level units at TUM.

TUM has established a binding, standardized affiliation designation in German and English and regulated its use in publication guidelines. The goal is to ensure that all publications originating at TUM can actually be attributed to our university.

However, until now it was not regulated how authors proceed who belong to two or more higher-level units within TUM, e.g. by belonging to a School and an Integrative Research Center, Central Institute or Cluster of Excellence.

Both affiliations must be named

The update of the Publication Guidelines now provides clarity. In such cases, both affiliations must be named. The institution at which the predominant part of the research work for the publication in question was conducted is listed first.

The updated publication guidelines have been approved by the TUM Board of Management and is binding for all TUM members as well as visiting scholars who research and publish at TUM during their residency.

Life cycle asssessment database ecoinvent licensed for TUM

The campus license for ecoinvent has expired at the end of June 2023. The database is currently no longer available TUM-wide.

The ecoinvent database is one of the world's leading life cycle assessment databases that supports various types of sustainability assessments. It enables analyses of the environmental impacts of products and services throughout their life cycle, from production to consumption and disposal.

The database contains more than 18,000 Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data from a wide range of economic sectors at both regional and global levels, including agriculture and livestock, forestry and timber, building and construction, chemicals and plastics, energy, metals, textiles, transport, tourism, waste management, recycling and water supply.

We have licensed ecoinvent for TUM members. They can access the online version or download the datasets for analyses in LCA software. The latest version, ecoinvent v3.8, has recently become available at TUM.

Your online access

TUM members can use the database in two ways:

Option 1: Access the online version of ecoinvent. For this you need the corresponding ecoinvent login.
Option 2: Download the ecoinvent database for use in the LCA software openLCA via NAS drive. Access is only possible within the Munich Scientific Network (MWN).
