We offer loan services at our branch libraries in Munich, Garching, Freising, and Straubing. You can order literature from our closed stacks or other branch libraries free of charge and have it delivered to your chosen pickup location.
We retrieve the requested materials from the shelves and transport them to your selected branch library. Delivery takes 1–3 working days, while orders to or from Straubing take 5 working days.
How it works:
- Click on the title of the desired item in the OPAC to open the availability tab.
- Use the "Order" button and select your preferred pickup location. If we have multiple copies, our library system will automatically reserve the earliest available one for you.
- Once the item is ready for pickup, you will be notified via email. Please check out the item within 10 working days.
Borrowing on-site:
Ordering library items is only possible for media from other branch libraries or the closed stacks. If an item is located freely accessible in your preferred branch library, you can take it directly from the shelf and borrow it on-site.
Restrictions or limited ordering options for:
- Library items from the reference collection
- Library items that are freely accessible at your chosen pickup location; on-site borrowing is possible.
- Works published before 1900; these may only be requested for the local reading room; transport to another branch library is not possible.
- Library items that are still in the acquistion process
- Items from reference collections at TUM chairs ("Handapparate")
