Since 2014, TUM has been participating in SCOAP³, an initiative with the task to make articles in the field of high-energy physics accessible to the public in the sense of open access and to pay for author fees.
The American Physical Society (APS) is now also participating in SCOAP³. Articles from the field of high energy physics (HEP), which appear in the three APS journals Physical Review C, Physical Review D and Physical Review Letters from January 2018, are now freely available. This agreement brings the number of journals participating in SCOAP³ to eleven. This means that around 90 % of journal literature in the field of high-energy physics is now open access available. In the first two months of 2018, ten articles involving TUM authors have already been published open access in American Physical Society journals.
