In 2018, the Technical University of Munich again ranked among the leading sponsors of open access in Germany. With a funding amount of almost 540,000 euros from the Open Access Publishing Fund, the TUM ranked first among German universities.
For 2018, the University Library was able to report a total of 382 funded articles for the TUM to the Open APC Initiative. On the platform, universities and large research institutions share their expenditures for open access publication fees, also known as Article Processing Charges (APC), as open data.
The Open Access Publication Fund is available to all members of the TUM and is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In addition, university members receive discounts and reductions on author fees through membership in open access initiatives and through agreements with publishers.
