Free document delivery for TUM researchers

Current Elsevier articles temporarily not available online

Notebook with pile of journals

Under the auspices of the German Rectors' Conference, nation-wide licence agreements are being negotiated for e-journals of major scientific publishers (project DEAL). In anticipation of such an agreement for 2017, the licences for Elsevier journals were terminated at the TUM in due time at the end of 2016, in line with 70 other scientific institutions in Germany.

Access to current journal volumes switched off

However, the talks with Elsevier are challenging and so far no agreement has been reached on a new treaty. Elsevier has now switched off access to current journal volumes at TUM. Access rights only apply to older volumes that TUM has permanently acquired. The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) lists for each journal title which volumes are accessible at the TUM in detail.

UPDATE
On 14 February 2017, the Elsevier has reactivated the online access to current journal articles of the year 2017 for the time being. This applies – with subject to reservations – to all journals licensed at TUM and terminated in anticipation of a Germany-wide contract by the end of 2016. The negotiations with Elsevier, led by the German Rectors' Conference (Project DEAL), are now continuing.

Free Document delivery for all staff members with TUM ID

During the transitional period, as long as the licence negotiations are ongoing and as long as it is uncertain which of the current Elsevier articles are available online, the University Library will continue to offer all researchers with a TUM ID the free document delivery of Elsevier articles via interlibrary loan or SUBITO.
