We are migrating our library system to FOLIO, a modern open-source platform that manages all library processes – from acquiring literature to loan services. While much of the migration happens behind the scenes without noticeable impact on library users, you will experience some effects in January 2025. From 14 – 20 January 2025, we will transfer your library account and loan data to the new system.
During this week, services will be limited to facilitate the migration, with loaning services unavailable.
Service Restrictions from 14 – 20 January 2025
❌ Pick-ups and borrowing
❌ Orders or holds
❌ Interlibrary loans and dokumenTUM
❌ Access to your library account
❌ Issuing or renewing library cards
❌ Activating library use for StudentCards via TUMonline (suspended from 2 January)
❌ Setting up course reserves
❌ Locker and carrel reservations
Tip: Place your orders by 6 January to ensure pick-up by 13 January.
Fully Available Services
✔️ Searching in the OPAC
✔️ Access to e-media
✔️ Returning borrowed items
✔️ Reserving study desks
✔️ Booking group study rooms
✔️ Accessing carrels without reservation
There are no disadvantages for you as a result of the migration. Loan periods, automatic renewals, and overdue notices have been adjusted to accommodate the service limitations. You will benefit e.g. from extended loan periods during this time.
Loan Services Resume with FOLIO on 21 January 2025
From 21 January, we will be back with full loan services and a new OPAC. You will be able to place orders in the OPAC, pick-up books and log into your library account again.
Further details about new OPAC features and updates to borrowing terms will be provided in mid-January.
