Duration: 2024 – 2028
TUM is participating in the second nationwide DEAL agreement with the Springer Nature publishing group, negotiated on behalf of the Alliance of Science Organizations and the German Rectors' Conference. The agreement also includes brands such as Adis, BioMed Central, or Palgrave Macmillan. An exception is made for the Nature Portfolio, for which TUM has made a separate agreement.
The following services are available through the TUM University Library:
- Reading Access
At TUM, you have online access to almost the entire journal portfolio of the Springer Nature Group, including titles from imprints such as Adis, BioMed Central, or Palgrave Macmillan. This includes reading rights for current issues and archival access to back volumes.
- Open Access Publishing
As a "Corresponding Author" affiliated with TUM, you have the opportunity to publish your papers as Open Access in almost all journals of the Springer Nature Group. There are no costs for you personally for Open Access publishing if your article has been accepted for publication from 1 January 2024. APCs (Article Processing Charges) are covered by TUM and handled through the TUM University Library. If you opt for additional services (e.g., for color illustrations or extra length) with the publisher, Springer Nature will directly invoice you for those expenses.
Exempt from the Agreement
- Journals from the Nature portfolio are not included in the DEAL contract with the Springer Nature Group. For this, TUM has reached a separate agreement, allowing us to provide you with reading access and Open Access publication options for these titles as well. More information
- Also excluded are magazines (e.g., Scientific American, Spektrum der Wissenschaft) and technical journals (e.g., ATZ, MTZ).
Mandatory Affiliation Statement
For cost coverage and the precise attribution of your publication, it is crucial that you indicate TUM as your primary affiliation and utilize the binding, standardized affiliation designation. Please adhere to the specifications outlined in the TUM Publication Guidelines for all your publication projects. Always use your TUM email address (@tum.de or @mytum.de) for the submission process to ensure that the publisher correctly affiliates you with TUM.
