At the Branch Library Main Campus in particular, WLAN overload may result in slow Internet connections.
The LRZ is aware of the problem and is already working on improvements through the use of more and newer access points.
Please note the following tips when using the WLANs:
- Activate the Wi-Fi only once you are at your workplace. This will prevent your device remaining connected to the often congested access point at the entrance.
- Use eduroam-a, which sends on the less loaded 5GHz band. Newer devices support this band.
- Move to less used areas in the library. You can scan the current utilization of the access points at: http://wlan.lrz.de/apstat/filter/unterbezirk/bb/. The second number in the column "usage by SSID" indicates the currently logged in equipment. The maximum number of users is approx. 100.
