Longer Opening Hours at Branch Library Straubing

From 1 March 2022 onwards, the Branch Library Straubing will expand its opening hours:

Monday to Friday
9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

This means that we open an hour earlier in the morning and return to the opening hours as before the pandemic. Accordingly, we can offer study desks to TUM members from 9:00 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

TUM Publication Guidelines revised

Mandatory statement of affiliation for all TUM members

To ensure maximum visibility for all research done at TUM, every publication should be clearly and accurately cited in abstracts and literature database such as Web of Science or Scopus. This aim is supported by the newly updated TUM Publication Guidelines.

The guidelines define a binding and standardised statement of affiliation in German and English and are mandatory for all TUM researchers and employees as well as for scientists performing and publishing research as guests at TUM.

The updated version, which was revised in cooperation with our Bibliometrics Team and approved by the TUM Board of Management, contains several new requirements compared to the first edition. You will now find additional information on:

Affiliation statement in case of permanent or temporary affiliation with multiple research institutes
Affiliation when changing institutes
Affiliation in case of external doctoral projects
Transition of TUM to school and department designations
Funding acknowledgements

The guidelines are available in German and English online via mediaTUM or on the TUM website in the section Governing Documents.

Longer Opening Hours at Garching Branch Libraries

From 1 February 2022, we are expanding our opening hours at the Garching Campus. Our Branch Libraries Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering will then be open longer for you:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

This means that the three libraries will not only return to their pre-pandemic opening hours, but will also open two hours longer on Fridays (Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering) and one hour earlier in the morning (Physics).

Reserving study desks
With the extension of the opening hours, we will offer two reservation shifts per day. TUM members can reserve morning shifts (starting at 8:00 a.m.) or afternoon shifts (starting at 3:00 p.m.).

2G rule: Access only for library visitors with proof of vaccination or recovery. Details
FFP2 masks mandatory; however, you may remove your mask when seated at a reserved study desk.
Minimum distance between two persons of 1.5 metres

Adjustments in the Reservation System

In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, 19 to 20 January 2022, we will adjust to the reservation system for our study desks. Therefore, no reservation slots will be released at midnight.

In the future, new reservation slots will only be uploaded in the morning hours due to repeated customer requests.

Responsible booking
Please reserve a desk only if you really plan to come to the library the next day. Be aware that by making prophylactic reservations that you do not utilise, you are denying your fellow students the chance of a reservation.

Return to the TUM Campus in the Olympiapark

Branch Library Sport & Health Sciences reopens

On Monday, 10 January 2022, our Branch Library Sport and Health Sciences will reopen its doors in the new faculty building on the TUM Campus in the Olympiapark. After 10 years of construction, it is returning from its interim quarters on Georg-Brauchle-Ring to its original location at Connollystraße.

The bright, modern library space is located in the west of the new building across from the student canteen and offer a wide view over the outdoor sports facilities. The library can be reached from the main entrance via the central access axis. In the future, visitors awaits a reading room with height-adjustable study desks, six individual study rooms (so-called carrels), two group study rooms as well as a lecture and a scanner room.

Not all work has been completed yet, and not all rooms are accessible due to the pandemic, but loan services, ordering via OPAC, textbook collection, course reserves, interlibrary loan and scanners are already available. Due to the work still in progress, there may be some noise disturbances on site. We ask for your understanding.
