Corona Protection Measures: 19 December 2020 – 24 January 2021

Lockdown extended: All Branch Libraries closed until 24 January 2021

At its cabinet meeting on 6 January, the Bavarian state government decided to extend the lockdown and deepen contact restrictions beyond 10 January 2021. On Friday, the Bavarian State Parliament approved amendments to the 11th Infection Protection Measures Ordinance in a special session.

As a result, our branch libraries remain closed until 24 January 2021, subject to further current developments.

This means currently:

Study Desks
Our reading rooms will be closed from 16 December 2020 until further notice. Study desks are currently not available.
Borrowing
Ordering books via OPAC is possible during the lockdown. You can pick up your pre-ordered media from the branch library as of 25 January 2021. For urgently needed literature, we offer TUM members a shipping service within Germany until the 24 of January.
Returning
It is possible to return borrowed items in the branch libraries as of 25 January 2021. Media reclaims are suspended for the duration of the closure. However, you are welcome to return books by mail.
E-Media
We offer TUM members more than 170,000 e-books, 72,000 e-journals and 2,300 databases. Please make use of this offer with priority.
Document delivery
TUM members can use our scanning service dokumenTUM for journal articles and book chapters (max. 10 percent) as usual.

Our first level hotline is available during the lockdown and will be happy to help you with any questions.

Limited OPAC Features on 29 December 2020

Due to maintenance work, our Online Catalog OPAC will have limited availability on Tuesday, 29 December 2020 until approx. 10:00 a.m.

Primarily affected are ordering functions. However, as a research tool, the OPAC will be available without interruption. You can also access e-media as usual.

Until 10:00 a.m. it is not possible to:

order and reserve books via OPAC
order interlibrary loans via OPAC
order via dokumenTUM
access your library account in the OPAC

However, possible are:

accessing e-media
searching in the OPAC

Corona Protection Measures: 19 Dezember 2020 – 10. January 2021

Lockdown: All branch libraries closed from 19 December 2020

The 11th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance provides for the closure of all archives and libraries. We are therefore obliged to close our branch libraries completely from Saturday, 19 December 2020.

Unfortunately, this means that our original plan to maintain loan services is no longer feasible. However, you will be able to make urgent, unpostponable loans and returns at our four open branch libraries until Friday, 18 December 2020, 6:00 p.m.

The current regulations are in effect until 10 January 2021, subject to further current developments.

This means:

Study Desks

Corona Protection Measures: 16 – 18 Dezember 2020

Lockdown: Reading rooms closed, loan services continued

As of Wednesday, 16 December 2020, new measures to contain the Corona pandemic will be in effect in our branch libraries, based on the resolutions of the Bavarian State Government from 14 December 2020.

This means:

Study Desks
Our reading rooms will be closed from 16 December 2020 until further notice. Study desks are no longer be available. Existing reservations will be cancelled.
Opening hours for borrowing and returning media
Until 18 December 2020, four of our branch libraries will remain open for borrowing and returning media until further notice. These include the branch libraries Main Campus, Mathematics & Informatics, Weihenstephan and Straubing. All other branch libraries are closed. Please check our website for detailed information on opening hours.
E-Media
We offer TUM members more than 170,000 e-books, 72,000 e-journals and 2,300 databases. Please make use of this offer with priority.
Interlibrary loan and document delivery
TUM members can use our scanning service dokumenTUM for journal articles and book chapters (max. 10 percent) as usual. We will also continue to offer interlibrary loan, subject to stricter Corona measures. However, due to different regulations in external libraries, delivery times may be longer.

Annual IT System Maintenance – Part 1

Limited Library Services on 15 December 2020

Due to maintenance work, our library services will be available on a limited basis in all branch libraries on Tuesday, 15 December 2020 approx. until 12.00 noon.

Mainly affected are loan service, interlibrary loan, dokumenTUM and ordering functions in the OPAC. However, as a research tool, the OPAC will be available without interruption. You can also access e-media as usual.

Until 12:00 noon it is not possible to:

order and reserve books via OPAC
check out pre-ordered media
order and pick up interlibrary loans
order via dokumenTUM
access your library account in the OPAC

However, possible are:

returning borrowed media
accessing e-media
searching in the OPAC

Our branch libraries will be open, under consideration of corona-related regulations.
