Corona Protection Measures: 9 – 15 December 2020

Branch Library Main Campus closes at 8:00 p.m.

We are still there for you. Our branch libraries will remain open until 15 December 2020, taking into account the stricter infection prevention measures that will apply from Wednesday, 9 December 2020.

Due to Munich exceeding the 7-day incidence of 200, our Branch Library Main Campus will close as early as 8:00 p.m. from 9 – 15 December 2020.

Available services

borrowing of pre-ordered literature
digital services like e-books, e-journals, databases, webinars
reservation of study desks (only for TUM members)
additional services at the circulation desks (with certain restrictions)

Please note our mandatory terms of use during the Corona pandemic. Furthermore, the Bavarian State Government calls on everyone to avoid all unnecessary contact and consistently follow the rules of distance and hygiene.

Extended curfew in hotspots

From an incidence value of more than 200, an extended curfew for the evening hours applies in the respective districts and independent cities. Therefore, our Branch Library Main Campus will close at 8:00 p.m. All other branch libraries retain their current opening hours.

Themed Weeks of the University Library

Sweeten Up Your Skills – Coffee Break Webinars

Grab a cup of coffee, a sweet donut or any favorite snack of yours and meet us on Zoom. For 30 minutes we will talk about various aspects of scientific writing and publishing worth to know.

Our themed weeks will start in January: 5 days, 5 topics, always at 1:30 p.m., always 30 minutes. The program covers a wide range of topics from literature search to citation and reference management to publishing at TUM, citation-based research evaluation and bibliometrics.

The short webinars are aimed at beginners and advanced researchers. They deal with questions like:

How to develop a research strategy for my topic?
Which reference management program is suitable for me?
How to cite interviews or myself?
How to indicate my TUM affiliation in my publications?
What exactly is the h-index?
How to publish Open Access?

You can book single webinars or a complete themed week. Please register online. You will then receive a registration confirmation by e-mail and the link to the Zoom meeting room.

Corona Protection Measures: 1 – 15 Dezember 2020

Extension of Partial Lockdown: No closure for the time being

The Bavarian government decided on 26 November 2020 to continue the partial lockdown. The measures currently in force will be extended beyond 30 November 2020.

In addition to the nationwide provisions, Bavaria will order further in-depth measures, including the closure of libraries and archives. For the time being, university libraries are an exception to this ruling.

The TUM University Library will therefore remain open until 15 December 2020. Our mandatory safety and hygiene rules during the Corona pandemic remain in place. Learning space, literature lending and other services on site are available with certain restrictions.

New Consultation Service for Lecturers

Literature search, citation, reference management: All lecturers at TUM who want to teach their students these basics of scientific work can rely on the University Library's support.

If you would like to get an overview of all options for collaboration, please make an appointment for our newly established consultation service for lecturers. Here you will receive all relevant information and we can discuss together how to support you in a customised way.

This can include, for example:

On which topics does the University Library offer courses for students?
How can you integrate these library tutorials into your course?
How does a joint development of blended learning modules for your courses work?
How can you integrate individual research coaching for students in their final theses?

Search more comfortably

VDE Standards Library now available campus-wide

Limited search options for VDE standards on a single workstations in the reading room are a thing of the past. We have recently started offering campus-wide access to the VDE Standards Library.

This gives you direct access to all current VDE regulations, including drafts. Extensive bibliographic information is available on withdrawn and historical VDE regulations. You can view full texts of the VDE standards, however, a download is not possible for licensing reasons.

Online access
As a TUM member, you can conveniently log into the database on your own computer with your TUM ID via eAccess: Start the VDE Standards Library with eAccess. Alternatively, it is possible to log in at a desktop PC in the TUM-LAN with proxy configuration.
