Corona Protection Measures: 29 June – 11 October 2020

Opening hours extended

Our branch libraries are now open longer. This means you can study longer in the library and more reservation slots are available for library services at the circulation desks.

Another new feature: If your booked date does not fit, you can now cancel it using the link in your reservation confirmation.

Up-to-date opening hours

Prior reservation is mandatory
Whether you want to study in the library or borrow and return books, you must always make an appointment online at least one day in advance. An unannounced visit to the library is temporarily not possible.

Update: As of 3 August, you no longer need a prior appointment for services at the circulation desks.

You must order all literature in advance via the OPAC. After 3 days (for orders from and to Straubing after 5 days) you can pick them up. Please book your collection date accordingly.

Library Website Offline

Web Server Maintenance on 23 June 2020

On Tuesday, 23 June 2020, we will carry out maintenance work on our web server. This means that the library website will be unavailable between 9.00 and 11.30 a.m.

The following service are not affected:

eAccess

You can access these plattforms directly via links which we will provide you during the maintenance work at www.ub.tum.de .

Corona Protection Measures: 2 June – 2 August 2020

Borrowing and returning possible by prior appointment

All our branch libraries are re-opened. We are now back with our loan services: Starting 2 June, you can again borrow and return literature, apply for a new library card or renew it. Interlibrary loan is also available again.

To protect the health of everyone, strict safety regulations must still be observed. Therefore, during the Corona pandemic, special provisions apply if you wish to use library services. The most important rules are:

Admission to the branch libraries is only possible by prior appointment.
Update: As of 3 August, you can use our services at the circulation desks without prior appointment.
Library items must be ordered in advance via the OPAC.
Special terms of use apply during the Corona pandemic.

Ordering and picking up
Order books you need in advance via the OPAC to the branch library of your choice. At present, you do not have access to reading room shelves. Allow for 3–5 working days to have your books ready for collection.

Returning and media reclaims
Returning borrowed media is also possible again in all branch libraries, regardless of where you originally check them out. Our courier service takes care of the transport to the respective branch library. We will resume fee-based media reclaims on 13 July 2020.

Please inform yourself about all regulations in detail before visiting the library.

Corona Protection Measures: 18- May – 15 December 2020

Study desks available by appointment

From 18 May 2020, we will reopen our reading rooms as a learning space for TUM members, subject to restrictions. We offer individual study desks in our branch libraries, which you must reserve online in advance.

In order to protect your and our health, a number of restrictions are in place, which follow the strict regulations of the state government and the university administration.

Advance Reservation and Safeguard Measures

Before you visit our libraries, please register via our website, e.g. to be able to trace chains of infection if necessary. We offer two booking periods, one in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. In order to guarantee a safe minimum distance, only a limited number of study desks are available in each branch library.

During your stay in publicly accessible areas you must wear a mouth-and-nose cover at all times. Contactless dispensers with disinfectant are also available.

Regulations and Restrictions

For your library visit the Terms of Use for the University Library during the Corona Pandemic apply in addition to existing library regulations and house rules. Please note the following rules:

Only TUM students and staff are entitled to reserve study desks. For external library users learning space at the library is currently not accessible.
With regard to limited places available, we ask you to reserve not more than three time slots per week out of considerateness for your fellow TUM members. In case of overbooking we reserve the right to cancel all of your reservations.
Please arrive at the library entrance only a short time before your confirmed reservation period, keep at least 1.5 metres distance from other people and wear a mouth-and-nose cover in the correct way.
When entering the library, please present your StudenCard or PersonalCard as well as the e-mail confirmation of your reservation (if applicable).

Corona Protection Measures

Interlibrary Loan – ordering copies available again

Our interliberary loan service for ordering copies is available again on 21 April. On 2 June, we will resume interlibrary loan options for books. Please order required literature which is locally not available via the platform "Gateway Bayern".

This service is available to all users of the University Library. The lending of books is free of charge. For copies of articles you pay an expense allowance of 1,50 €.

Due to the Corona Pandemic, unannounced visits to the library are currently not possible. Therefore, please arrange an appointment in advance for the collection and return of interlibrary loans.
