We reached our first milestone in the refurbishment of the reading room at the Branch Library Main Campus. By finishing the first phase of construction works, we relocated the last in the reading room remaining office and we converted the southern part of the reading room into a separate staff zone. On the now free spaces we will create new study areas.
Soon we will transfer the loading and unpacking of book boxes to a special room behind the new pick-up shelves. Book orders from the closed-access collections will also be handled there. In the past, these noise-intensive works took place at the circulation desk. All these measurements aim at creating a calmer reading room atmosphere.
The roof refurbishment progresses as planned and will be finished likely by the end of October.
