About us
The university library and its branch libraries form the academic information centre at the Technische Universität München. The services we provide at our sites in Munich, Garching, Weihenstephan and Straubing support research, teaching and studies. To this end, we work closely with the academic faculties, administration and other facilities at TUM.
As a large technical and scientific library in Bavaria, we also supply literature and information nationwide.
Our work is focused on providing the best possible service to our customers; we pride ourselves in responding to their requirements in a friendly and competent manner. We want to meet the growing demands placed on providing academic information through professional innovation and efficiency and play a leading role in its further technical developments.
What we have to offer
Our collection comprises a broad spectrum of technical and scientific literature. We boast new collections as well as those that have grown historically; we quickly acquire current media in response to demand and make it available to users at short notice.
Our qualified staff are on hand to support users searching for literature and to help with selecting sources of information and finding literature. We offer informational events and materials to help users become acquainted with the library's services and facilities.
Our branch libraries are characterised by a pleasant and well-equipped working environment. It is important to us to always use the latest technology when researching and procuring information.
How we achieve our objectives
We take a committed and expert approach to pursuing our objectives and tasks. We use the means placed at our disposal competently and efficiently.
We routinely analyse and optimise our workflow processes to guarantee the quality of our services. We strive towards standardised and efficient processes under due consideration of the circumstances and requirements of our branch libraries.
We make sure that our staff receive ongoing education and training in response to the ever-changing challenges of our profession.
Our teamwork is based on providing mutual support and information, cooperation founded on trust and the recognising good performance. We deal with criticism in an open and constructive manner. We offer one another friendship, appreciation and reliability.
Together with team colleagues and superiors, we adopt responsibility for our area of competence and for the university library as a whole.
Our management teams consider it their duty to motivate others; they encourage and support personal responsibility and the involvement of all employees. They make sure that decisions are transparent, and specifications are clear as well as exchanging information using the appropriate channels.
