We ensure the quality of our publishing program with a set of well-defined acceptance criteria. A decision on acceptance is based on the following requirements and in consideration of available publishing capacities. We prioritize the interdisciplinarity and relevance of the topic as well as the diversity of subjects at TUM.
Our requirements
- At least one person involved in the book project, either an author or an editor, must currently be affiliated with TUM and have at least a postdoc status.
- Your publication must be within TUM's disciplinary scope.
- You commit to adhering to the principles of good scientific practice according to the TUM-SGwP bylaw (PDF 430 KB – in German).
- As an editor or author, you are contractually obligated to ensure the quality control and preservation of scientific quality.
- The responsibility for obtaining reproduction rights and correct image credits lies with you.
- The conclusion of a publishing contract for the transfer of necessary usage rights and the regulation of deadlines, cost sharing, etc. is mandatory.
- The manuscript must have a book-appropriate, high-quality layout following the publisher's specifications (PDF 2.8 MB). It must have a minimum length of 100 pages, with around 2,000 characters, including spaces, per page. Edited volumes must contain at least five contributions.
- You will designate a Publication Manager who will serve as the primary contact person for TUM.University Press.
- For print-on-demand, you must order a minimum of 50 author copies, and for print run productions, a minimum of 500 author copies.
